This training module provides an introduction to AIIB’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF). It offers participants a foundational understanding of the ESF by guiding them through the Environmental and Social Policy (ESP), Environmental and Social Standards (ESSs), and Environmental and Social Exclusion List (ESEL), as well as how AIIB works to ensure environmental and social sustainability in the projects it finances.
About PPM: The Project-affected People’s Mechanism (PPM) is AIIB’s independent accountability mechanism that helps to resolve complaints from Project-affected people who believe they have been or are likely to be adversely affected by AIIB’s failure to implement the Environmental and Social Policy (ESP). The PPM is independent of the AIIB Management and directly reports to the Board. PPM is part of Complaints-resolution, Evaluation and Integrity Unit (CEIU) of AIIB. About PPM e-learning course: The purpose of this e-learning course is to enhance awareness of various stakeholders about PPM in an easy-to-understand and self-paced e-learning format. This is an updated version of the e-learning course, incorporating changes in the PPM Policy approved by the Board in December 2025. Who should take this e-learning course: Representatives from AIIB Members, clients, affected communities, civil society organizations, academics, students and the general public interested in learning about PPM.
This e-Learning course is structured to briefly explain the fundamentals concepts of disbursements to AIIB’s Borrowers. The course will provide AIIB’s Borrowers with an understanding of role of the AIIB Loans & Grant Unit, key terminology used in the project implementation lifecycle as well as critical milestone dates, the different disbursement modalities available, and an introduction to the preferred method of submission of withdrawal applications to AIIB, being the AIIB Client Portal (ACP). An understanding of the fundamental concepts of disbursements by AIIB’s Borrowers, will promote the timely and efficient release of liquidity to AIIB projects.
